Price: 260,000 AED

The AITO M9 is a full-size luxury 6-seater SUV co-developed by Seres and Huawei under the AITO badge. It comes in both pure EV and EREV (extended-range) versions.

If you live in the UAE, the usual brochure numbers do not tell you much. You need to know what the CLTC range really looks like in Dubai heat, how much you will actually pay once the car lands, and how it stacks up against a Tesla Model X, BMW X7, or Mercedes-Benz GLS when you put them side by side. That is what this guide focuses on.

Design & Exterior

The AITO M9 is a big vehicle, even by luxury SUV standards. It measures roughly 5,230–5,402 mm in length, 2,026 mm in width, and 1,845 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,236 mm. On the road, it feels very much in the same size class as a BMW X7, Mercedes GLS, or Range Rover.

The body is made from aluminium, which helps with rigidity and weight, and it achieves a drag coefficient as low as 0.264 Cd. That is a serious figure for something this large. Rear-wheel steering helps you thread it through tighter Dubai streets, keeping the turning radius to about 5.8 metres, which is closer to a midsize SUV than a full-size one.

For 2026, the facelifted model grows by 55 mm in length, adds new LiDAR units, and gets flush door handles for a cleaner, more modern look.

Interior & Comfort

Inside, the M9 uses a 2+2+2 layout. The second row gets Zero Gravity seats with about 1,220 mm of legroom and massaging functions for all passengers. The third row is not just for kids; adults can sit there without begging to get out after twenty minutes, and there is still usable cargo space with all seats up.

Front and center is a triple-screen HarmonyOS setup: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central display, and a 16-inch passenger screen. Audio comes from a 43-speaker Huawei Sound system, and there is a ceiling-mounted rear projector that turns long trips into movie nights.

For UAE summers, the car leans heavily on tech. You get air-quality systems with photocatalyst and UVC sterilisation, a built-in refrigerator, and multi-zone climate control that is actually capable of keeping the cabin cool in August. Materials are advertised as low in formaldehyde, and rear-seat comfort is strong enough for regular Abu Dhabi runs without complaints from the back.

Powertrain, Battery & Performance

The pure EV models use battery packs in the 100–120 kWh range. The EREV versions use smaller 42–52 kWh packs combined with a 1.5-litre petrol range extender. Top trims use three-motor AWD setups with as much as 664 kW of combined power.

For the 2026 model year, performance figures are impressive for a large SUV: 0–100 km/h in about 4.0 seconds, a top speed of 251 km/h, and 865 Nm of torque. The 800 V electrical architecture supports up to 290 kW DC fast charging, which is right in line with the latest high-end EVs.

EV vs EREV in UAE use

If you have reliable home charging and mostly run short daily commutes in Dubai or Sharjah, the pure EV version makes sense.

The EREV models offer electric-only ranges of roughly 225–290 km (CLTC) and a combined range beyond 1,260 km. For drivers regularly going Abu Dhabi–Dubai–Al Ain, that extra buffer means you do not spend the trip watching the remaining range more than the road.

Range & Charging in UAE Conditions

On paper, official CLTC figures reach up to 630 km for the EV versions, with EREV models again topping 1,260 km in combined range. In Gulf reality, you need to shave off some optimism. High speeds of 120–140 km/h, heavy AC, and hot asphalt generally reduce those figures by around 20–30 percent, so you are looking at roughly 70–80 percent of the quoted CLTC range in normal UAE highway use.

With 290 kW DC fast charging, you can add a meaningful chunk of range in about 15–20 minutes, provided you are at a high-power charger. For home use, 11 kW AC charging will usually take around 8–9 hours for a full charge, which works fine as an overnight routine.

For long-distance work, the EREV still has an edge. Having a petrol generator feeding the battery means you spend much less time worrying about finding a compatible high-speed charger between cities.

Technology & Huawei ADS

The Huawei ADS 5.0 suite combines an 896-line LiDAR unit with radars and cameras to deliver advanced driver assistance. It can handle tasks such as automatic lane changes and obstacle detection, and the system is very tech-heavy compared with many legacy brands.

Infotainment runs on HarmonyOS, so you get voice control, multi-screen sharing, and a software experience that feels more like a modern tablet than a traditional car interface.

However, for UAE buyers, there is a catch. Core safety functions work, but high-level features like full NOA and any map-dependent functions are still tailored to China. On grey imports, owners often rely on unofficial workarounds and software tweaks, and support quality depends heavily on the importer.

Importing & Pricing in the UAE

In China, the AITO M9 has a starting MSRP of around 479,800 RMB, with higher trims going up to about 659,800 RMB. Once you factor in shipping, customs, 5 percent import duty, 5 percent VAT, and registration, realistic landed pricing in the UAE typically starts from roughly 260,000 AED, depending on trim level and the route taken to bring the car in.

As of 2026, there is still no official UAE distributor. All cars arrive via grey importers, which means warranty coverage, software updates, and on-road costs vary from dealer to dealer. Buyers need to be very clear about what is covered, for how long, and who will actually work on the car if something fails.

AITO M9 vs Competitors

If you line the M9 up against a Tesla Model X, BMW iX, and Mercedes EQE SUV, the story is familiar: Chinese EVs lean on aggressive pricing and dense tech. The M9 counters with more interior space, features like 43 speakers, triple screens, and strong performance at lower landed prices than many rivals.

The flip side is after-sales support. In the GCC, brands like Tesla, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz have established service networks, parts supply, and clear warranty processes. The M9 instead offers more space and tech for the money, but you trade that for extra homework on who will maintain it and how quickly parts will arrive if something goes wrong.

Conclusion

Choosing between the M9 EV and EREV versions mostly comes down to two questions: do you have dependable home charging, and how often do you drive between Emirates? If you mainly do city driving and can plug in every night, the EV is cleaner and simpler. If your routine includes regular long-distance trips or you are not fully confident in public charging, the EREV’s 1,260 km plus combined range buys a lot of peace of mind.

For tech-focused buyers who are comfortable with grey imports and willing to ask detailed questions about service and software, the M9 delivers a lot of luxury SUV for around 260,000 AED.
